WAVE Fellows Student-Faculty Programs

Wave Fellows

While the Van Lier Fellowship has specific eligibility requirements, emerging artists of any age are welcome to apply for the Sunroom Project Space. For more information about the Van Lier Fellowship, see open call description below. Artists with projects that address the natural world are welcome to submit proposals for future consideration. Due to the high number of submissions we receive, we will only respond to those artists whose work fits the programs to be planned.

Applications will be reviewed by a jury comprising Wave Hill’s curatorial staff, an invited curator, and a previous Sunroom and Van Lier artist. The same jury will review the Sunroom Project Space and Van Lier Fellowship applications. The Van Lier Fellowship applicants will also be considered for the Sunroom Project Space alone; there is no need to submit two separate applications for these two different opportunities.

The blue crab fishery is the largest commercial fishing industry in Delaware. However, over the course of decades, there is a potential for thousands of derelict crab pots to accumulate in Delaware waters. These derelict pots, commonly referred-to as “ghost pots,” can cause habitat damage and continue to trap and kill organisms like crabs, turtles, and fish long after they’ve stopped being tended to.
